On 1 September 2006 a merger took place between FAR, the institute for the accountancy profession in Sweden, and Svenska Revisorsamfundet SRS, The Swedish association of auditors.
FAR SRS is the professional institute for authorized public accountants (auktoriserade revisorer), approved public accountants (godkända revisorer) and other highly qualified professionals in the accountancy sector in Sweden.
FAR SRS includes approximately 5.000 authorized public accountants, approved public accountants and specialists.
FAR SRS plays a leading role in the development of professional standards, education and information for the audit profession in Sweden.
FAR SRS publishes books, journals and newsletters via their subsidiary publishing company FAR SRS Förlag AB, and arranges conferences and seminars on professional issues via their educational subsidiary company IREV AB.
FAR SRS acts through its Council, standing committees, ad-hoc working parties and regional organisations, and through its permanent secretariat in Stockholm.
FAR SRS contributes actively to the work of the International Federation of Accountants IFAC, the International Accounting Standards Board IASB, the Fédération des Experts Comptables Européens FEE, the European Federation of Accountants and Auditors for SMEs EFAA and the Nordic Federation of Public Accountants NRF.
